Description

The Indianapolis News, July 6, 1909, reports that the first baseball team in Indianapolis was formed April 15, 1865 by W. H. Striger (who provides this information), Harry Rivers and Harry Dean (later the pitcher). 23 or 24 men attended the meeting, at Ohm's store. Their first game was played on Fletcher's pasture, about there Cedar Street was in 1909. Much detail given.

It is unknown if this is one of the 1866-67 teams mentioned elsewhere, or a separate team.
