Description	The Helena Independent, June 9, 1883 says there will be a "three-day base ball tournament held at Fort Keogh this week. The competing team is from Fort Custer." This may be the same tournament mentioned in the Army/Navy Journal vol. 20 p. 1034, which reports that "Fort Keogh..... was made lively last week by an interesting base ball tournament between a picked nine of that post and the 'Hatch nine' of Fort Custer." The Philipsburg Mail, Aug. 25, 1887 says the Fort Custer team will be playing at Helena soon. Fort Custer was established in 1877, and was abandoned in 1898. It had 739 residents in 1880.
