Text	It is reported that Charles W. Welter and E. H. Reimbold introduced base ball to Nauvoo in 1871, having had played the game previously in New Orleans and St. Louis. The Nauvoo club later played in tournaments against Carthage, Dallas, and Fort Madison. Nauvoo IL (2010 pop. about 1100) is about 100 miles E of Peoria on the Mississippi River. and is about 175 miles NW of St. Louis MO.
