| Text | The Wheeling Daily Intelligencer, April 30, 1862 prints an April 24 letter from a soldier in "camp near Yorktown" discussing the soldier's life there: "While not on duty, they engage in almost every variety of exercise and amusement, playing ball, pitching quoits, and other athletic sports." At this time the Army of the Potomac camped opposite the Confederate lines running south from Yorktown, VA. |
